Butter a large sheet pan or spray it with cooking spray or lay down parchment paper.

In a heavy bottom pot, add 1 cup of white granulated sugar, 1/4 cup of water, and 1/2 cup of corn syrup.

Add 1/8 teaspoon of salt and heat the mixture on medium heat until it reaches about 250°F.

Once at 250°F, add in 1 cup of dry roasted peanuts and stir constantly.

Continue to heat and stir until the mixture reaches the hard crack stage at around 300°F, which takes about 5 to 8 minutes.

Remove from heat and quickly add 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract, 1 tablespoon of butter, and just shy of 1 teaspoon of baking soda, stirring rapidly as it foams up.

Pour the mixture onto the prepared sheet pan and spread it out with forks to make it thinner.
