Its origins trace back to the rich culinary heritage of Bengal, where sweets play a significant role in celebrations. The dish is cherished for its delightful texture and the aromatic flavors of cardamom and saffron, making it a favorite among families. Today, Chak Shemai is enjoyed not only in Bangladesh but also in Bengali communities around the world, symbolizing joy and togetherness during festive gatherings.

Almond milk is a dairy-free alternative, while water reduces cost.
Boil water in a pot and add vermicelli to cook for 10 minutes.
Drain the water from the cooked vermicelli using a strainer.
In a pan, heat 2.5 kg of milk over low heat until it thickens.
Add 1 cup of powdered milk to the thickened milk and mix well.
Heat the milk mixture for an additional 5 minutes.
Add cardamom and cinnamon to the milk mixture for flavor.
Increase the heat to bring the mixture to a boil.
Add 1/4 cup of sugar to the boiling milk and stir until dissolved.
Add the cooked vermicelli to the milk mixture and cook for another 5 minutes.
Stir the mixture occasionally to ensure even cooking.
Add 2 teaspoons of ghee for flavor and aroma.
Add a pinch of salt to enhance the sweetness.
Add coconut flakes (optional) 3 minutes before finishing cooking.
Cook for an additional 2 minutes after adding ghee and coconut.
Turn off the heat and let the mixture cool before serving.
Serve the dish in a plate and garnish with fried cashews, almonds, and raisins.
