Heat mustard oil in a pan over medium-high heat.
Add asafoetida to the hot oil and turn off the heat.
Pour the hot oil and asafoetida mixture over the cranberry mixture.
Mix everything well until combined.
Store the relish in a glass jar or glass bowl.
Let it sit or marinate for a day for the best taste.
Store the relish at room temperature for a week or refrigerated for a month.
