Pan Sushi, also known as Sushi Bake, is a modern twist on traditional sushi that originated in the United States, particularly popularized in Hawaii. This dish combines the flavors of sushi into a baked casserole, making it easier to serve at gatherings and parties. It reflects the creativity of fusion cuisine, where classic Japanese elements meet American convenience. Today, Pan Sushi is enjoyed by many and often customized with various toppings and fillings to suit different tastes.

Line an 8x8 pan with foil.
Place a sheet of nori into the lined pan.
Cook sushi rice according to package instructions, then mix in rice vinegar.
Wet your fingers and press half of the sushi rice into the bottom of the pan, making sure to cover the corners.
Layer sliced cucumber evenly over the rice.
Layer sliced avocado on top of the cucumber.
Add a layer of imitation crab meat evenly over the avocado.
Sprinkle a layer of seasoning (e.g., furikake) over the crab meat.
Press down the remaining sushi rice on top of the crab layer.
Cover with plastic wrap and place another pan on top to press it down.
Refrigerate for about an hour to set.
