Melt 2.5 sticks of butter in a pot.
Add 1 cup of cocoa powder to the melted butter and mix.
Pour in 1 cup of water and mix, keeping an eye on it as it can boil over easily. Remove from heat once it comes to a boil.
In a large bowl, add 2 cups of flour and 1 cup of brown sugar, packed.
Add 1 tsp baking soda, 1 tsp cinnamon, and 1/2 tsp salt to the dry mix.
Pour the cocoa mixture into the dry ingredients and beat until combined, starting slowly to avoid splashing.
Let the mixture cool slightly, then add 1/3 cup sweetened condensed milk, 2 eggs, and 1 tsp vanilla. Beat until smooth.
Grease a 15x10-inch jellyroll pan and pour the batter into it, tilting to get an even layer.
Release air bubbles from the batter and bake in a preheated 350°F (177°C) oven for 15 minutes or until the cake springs back when lightly touched.
If the cake has a raw center, bake for an additional 5 minutes until evenly baked.
While the cake cools, melt some butter in a small saucepan for the frosting.
Add cocoa powder to the melted butter and mix until smooth.
Pour in the remaining sweetened condensed milk and stir until smooth.
Add 1 cup of confectioners' sugar (note: the creator mistakenly added 2 cups) and mix until smooth, using a whisk to eliminate sugar pockets.
Add chopped pecans to the frosting and mix to combine.
Spread the frosting on the warm cake, working quickly to ensure it spreads easily before it cools and hardens.
