Often enjoyed in mountain lodges, it reflects the resourcefulness of alpine farmers who used available ingredients. Today, it remains a beloved comfort food in Switzerland and has inspired variations across Europe, celebrating the rich flavors of Swiss cheese and cream.

Greek yogurt reduces calories while maintaining creaminess
Start by boiling water in a pot.
Add diced potatoes to the boiling water and cook for about 15 minutes.
Add salt to the water for flavor.
In a separate skillet, melt 2 tablespoons of butter over medium heat.
Once the butter is melted, add the sliced onion and sauté until translucent.
Add 100 g of bacon to the skillet and cook until crispy.
After 15 minutes, check the potatoes to ensure they are cooked through.
In a bowl, combine 500 ml of milk and the chicken bouillon cube, stirring until dissolved.
Add the pasta (300 g) to the boiling water with the potatoes and cook for 10 minutes, ensuring it is slightly less than al dente.
Combine the milk mixture with the pasta and potatoes in the pot.
Add the cooked bacon and sautéed onions to the mixture.
Stir in 250 g of grated gruyere cheese and 250 g of grated emmental cheese, mixing well until melted and combined.
