Shakarpara

4 servings
Servings4
2 cups all-purpose flour
1/4 cup sugar
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp cardamom powder
1/4 cup ghee or unsalted butter
1/2 cup water (approximately)
Oil for deep frying
1

In a mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, sugar, salt, and cardamom powder.

2

Add the ghee or butter to the dry ingredients and mix until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.

3

Gradually add water, a little at a time, and knead to form a smooth dough. Cover the dough with a damp cloth and let it rest for 30 minutes.

4

After resting, divide the dough into small balls and roll each ball into a thin sheet (about 1/8 inch thick).

5

Cut the rolled dough into diamond or square shapes using a knife or pizza cutter.

6

Heat oil in a deep frying pan over medium heat. Once the oil is hot, carefully add the cut pieces in batches.

7

Fry the pieces until they turn golden brown, turning occasionally to ensure even cooking.

8

Remove the fried shakarpara and drain on paper towels to remove excess oil.

9

Allow them to cool completely before serving. They can be stored in an airtight container.
