Its smooth texture and sweet caramel topping make it a beloved treat, with modern variations incorporating different flavors like coffee or chocolate, appealing to diverse palates around the world.

Add 1/2 cup of sugar to a pan in a single layer.
Heat the sugar until it starts to melt, swirling the pan to move it around without stirring.
Once the sugar is melted and reaches a golden color, turn the heat down to medium to prevent burning.
Remove the pan from heat to avoid burning the caramel.
Quickly pour the caramel into ramekins, swirling to coat the sides.
In a mixing bowl, combine 1 can of evaporated coconut milk, 4 whole eggs, and 1 can of sweetened condensed coconut milk, then blend until smooth.
Pour the coconut mixture into the prepared ramekins.
Add enough water to the roasting pan to come halfway up the sides of the ramekins.
Place the ramekins in a preheated 350°F (175°C) oven for 35 minutes.
After baking, let the ramekins sit in the hot water for 10 minutes before removing them.
Refrigerate the ramekins for 3 hours to chill.
To serve, run a knife around the edges of the flan to loosen it, then invert onto a plate and tap gently to release.
