1 tbsp canola oil
1 tbsp natural liquid sweetener (honey, maple syrup, or agave)
1 tbsp brown sugar
dash of salt
1/4 teaspoon flavor extract
1 cup old-fashioned oats
1/2 cup nuts, seeds, and/or shredded coconut
dried fruit (optional)
chocolate chips (optional)

Heat a large skillet over medium low heat.

Add 1 tbsp of canola oil to the skillet.

Add 1 tbsp of natural liquid sweetener (honey, maple syrup, or agave).

Add 1 tbsp of brown sugar and a dash of salt.

Optionally, add spices and 1/4 teaspoon of flavor extract.

Stir the mixture and warm it until it begins to come together and looks melty and bubbly.

Add 1 cup of old-fashioned oats to the skillet.

Add 1/2 cup of nuts, seeds, and/or shredded coconut.

Stir to coat the oats, nuts, and coconut fully with the oil sweetener mixture.

Continue to cook, stirring frequently, for 7 to 10 minutes or until the oats and nuts are toasted and golden brown.

Remove from heat and spread on a baking sheet or parchment paper to cool.

Once cool, add any desired additions like dried fruit or chocolate chips.
