Pour half of the milk into a pan and heat it up.
Add 4 tbsp of butter to the milk and let it melt.
Cool the milk and butter mixture slightly before adding yeast.
In a bowl, mix 1 tbsp of sugar, 1 tsp of cinnamon, 1 tsp of salt, and 0.5 tsp of cardamom with 2 cups of flour.
Dissolve the yeast in the milk mixture once cooled and bubbly.
Add the remaining milk and 1 whole egg to the yeast mixture and mix well.
Add about 2/3 of the flour mixture to the wet ingredients and mix with an electric mixer for about 5 minutes.
Knead the dough by hand for a couple of minutes, adding more flour if necessary until the right consistency is achieved.
Place the dough in a bowl and let it rise for half an hour to an hour.
Mix 8 tbsp of butter, 1/3 cup of sugar, and 1 tbsp of cinnamon to create the filling.
Roll out the dough to about 10 inches long and 6 inches wide.
Spread the cinnamon filling over the rolled-out dough and roll it up into a loaf.
Pinch the seams and place the loaf seam-side down in a greased pan.
Cover the loaf and let it rise until doubled in size, about half an hour to an hour.
Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
Slice the loaf 4-5 times before baking.
Bake for about 25 minutes until golden brown and hollow sounding when tapped.
Let the bread cool in the pan for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
Mix 1.75 cups of powdered sugar with 0.25 cup of water for the glaze and pour over the cooled bread.
