Check the bread for doneness; it should be spongy but not burnt.

Add pepper to the tuna mixture and mix well.

Spread the tuna mixture generously onto one slice of toasted bread.

Top the tuna mixture with two slices of tomato and pepper jack cheese.

Spread mayonnaise on the top slice of bread before assembling the sandwich.

Place the assembled sandwich back on the kamal to cook.
