Cooked a large amount of chicken the day before, which will be used in the rappie pie.
Saved the chicken broth from cooking the chicken, which includes onion flavor.
Strained the broth to remove bones and solid pieces, keeping the flavorful liquid.
Heated the chicken broth in a large pot on the stove.
Prepared a large roasting pan by buttering it for the rappie pie.
Cut the bacon into slices to add to the mixture later.
Added two cups of cold water to the rappie pie mix in a large bowl and mixed well.
Waited for the broth to boil, checking its temperature.
Once boiling, turned off the stove and prepared to mix the broth with the potato mixture.
Measured out five cups of broth and five cups of boiling water to mix with the potato mixture.
Stirred the potato mix with the broth and hot water until it became mushy.
Added bacon and deboned chicken pieces to the mixture, stirring gently to combine.
Poured the mixture into the prepared roasting pans, filling both the large and small pans.
Baked the large pan for one and a half hours at 375°F (190°C) and checked the smaller pan after one hour.
