1/2 lb ham steak
1/2 cup flour
1 tablespoon chicken base
1 quart water
8 diced potatoes
2 teaspoons black pepper
2 cups milk

Melt 1/2 stick of butter in a large pot.

Add 1 cup of yellow onion, 1 cup of celery, 1 cup of carrots, and 5 cloves of garlic; cook until vegetables begin to sweat, about 5 minutes.

Add 1/2 lb of cubed ham and cook for another 5 minutes.

Stir in 1/2 cup of flour until incorporated.

Add 1 tablespoon of chicken base and stir.

Pour in 1 quart of water and add 8 diced potatoes.
