1

Mix together the warm water, sugar, and yeast and set aside for 5 minutes.

2

Add salt and flour together, then add to the frothy yeast mixture.

3

Mix the wet ingredients into the dry, scraping the bowl as needed until it comes together in a dough.

4

Cover the dough and allow it to rest in a warm place until doubled in size, about 1 hour.

5

Turn the dough onto a floured surface and knead for 6-8 minutes, adding more flour as needed until it forms a firm dough.

6

Portion the dough into desired shapes and sizes.

7

Preheat oil in a deep fryer or saucepan to 350°F.

8

Add the dough to the heated oil and fry for 3-5 minutes, flipping as needed until dark golden brown.

9

Remove the fried dough to drain on paper towels.

10

In a large skillet, add the canola oil, diced onion, potatoes, and ground meat and sauté for 3-5 minutes until the onions are colored and the meat is browned.

11

Add garlic and spices, sautéing for another 2-3 minutes.

12

Add diced tomatoes and cook until the potatoes are tender, about 15-20 minutes.

13

If using raw veggies, add them in now; if using canned, wait to add them until the end.
