Cream 5.5 tablespoons of butter and 2/3 cup of sugar in a stand mixer on high until fluffy.
In a separate bowl, whisk together 1.5 cups of all-purpose flour, 0.5 teaspoon of baking powder, 0.5 teaspoon of baking soda, and 0.75 teaspoon of salt.
Add the dry ingredients to the butter and sugar mixture and mix until combined.
Smash 3 ripe bananas in a bowl until smooth.
Add the smashed bananas to the mixture and continue mixing until fully incorporated.
Fold in 0.5 cup of maraschino cherries and 0.5 cup of pecans into the batter.
Prepare a 5x6 pan by spraying it with cooking spray or buttering it.
Pour the batter into the prepared pan and even it out.
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit and bake for 45 to 50 minutes.
Perform the toothpick test to check for doneness; if it comes out clean, the bread is ready.
Let the bread cool for about 5 minutes before transferring it to a cooling rack.
Cut the bread using a sharp knife and serve warm with butter.
