Olive oil is healthier with unsaturated fats, while margarine can be more budget-friendly.
Start with 1 cup of water and 1/2 cup of milk.
Heat the water and milk in the microwave to about 100 to 110°F.
Add 1 tablespoon of active dry yeast to the warm mixture.
Add 2 tablespoons of honey to the yeast mixture and let it sit for about 5 minutes to activate.
In a mixing bowl, combine 3 1/2 cups of all-purpose flour and 1 teaspoon of kosher sea salt.
Melt 2 tablespoons of butter separately and add it to the flour mixture.
Pour the activated yeast mixture into the flour mixture and mix until combined.
Knead the dough on a floured surface until smooth and elastic, adding extra flour as needed.
Place the dough in a bowl, cover it with a dough cover, and let it rise in the microwave for about 30 minutes until doubled in size.
Preheat the oven to 400°F.
After the dough has risen, gently punch it down and divide it into about 14 to 15 pieces.
Shape each piece into a roll and place them in a baking pan.
Let the rolls set for about 15 minutes to rise slightly before baking.
Bake the rolls in the preheated oven at 400°F for 15 to 20 minutes.
Prepare a butter topping by melting 2 tablespoons of butter and mixing it with 1 tablespoon of honey.
Brush the butter and honey mixture on the rolls after they come out of the oven.
