Mini Pies

Cultural Context

Mini pies, often associated with American comfort food, are a delightful twist on traditional pies, making them perfect for sharing. They are commonly enjoyed at family gatherings, holidays, and potlucks, showcasing seasonal fruits like apples and berries. Today, mini pies have gained popularity in various forms, often featuring creative fillings and toppings.

Servings4
1 can Apple Pie Filling
1 can Cherry Pie Filling
1 jar Mince Pie Filling
1 can Pumpkin Pie Filling
1 large Egg
4 packages Pre-made pie crusts
1 round Cookie Cutter (approximately 2 1/2 " in diameter)
1

Unroll your first pie crust and cut out circles that will fit into a muffin pan.

2

Put your circle of pie crust into your muffin pan and press into the pan.

3

Separate an egg and keep the egg white only. Whisk briskly. Lightly brush the inside of each pie crust with the egg-white wash to help prevent 'soggy bottoms' on your Mini Pies.

4

Fill each pie crust with the pie filling.

5

If needed, top the pies with a top piece of pie crust (another circle, lattice or use a cookie cutter in the shape of a leaf or a Christmas tree.)

6

Bake in an oven preheated to 400 degrees for 18-22 minutes or until the edges of the pie crust are golden brown.
