Originating from Puerto Rico, the Jibarito is a beloved sandwich that replaces bread with fried plantains, reflecting the island's culinary creativity. Traditionally filled with steak and fresh vegetables, it embodies the fusion of flavors and textures that characterize Puerto Rican cuisine. Today, variations abound, with many opting for chicken or even vegetarian fillings, making it a versatile favorite.

Introduce the dish and ingredients, mentioning that you can use any meat you like.
Use 2 tablespoons of Sausalito and 1 teaspoon of garlic to season the steak.
Add a packet of meat tenderizer and a splash of apple cider vinegar to the steak for flavor.
Let the steak marinate for at least 2 hours, or overnight for better flavor.
Cut the ends off the green plantain and make a line down the middle to peel it.
Soak the plantain in hot water for about 5 minutes to soften it for peeling.
Heat a tablespoon of olive oil in a pot over medium heat.
Add the marinated steak to the pot, keeping it straight for even cooking.
Add a can of tomato sauce and a little bit of water to the pot with the steak.
Cover the pot and let it cook on low heat for about 20 minutes, checking at 10 minutes for seasoning adjustments.
Peel the softened plantain after soaking and cut it into desired sizes for frying.
