Chili

Cultural Context

Chili is a staple dish in American cuisine, particularly associated with Tex-Mex and Southwestern cooking. It has roots in the early 20th century and is often served at gatherings, competitions, and as comfort food. Variations abound, with some regions favoring beans while others do not, leading to spirited debates about the 'true' chili recipe.

7

Remove the meatballs and discard the beef broth.

8

In the same pot, add a can of tomatoes, a can of beef broth, and half a can of chicken broth.

9

Bring the mixture back to a boil.

10

Add 2 tablespoons of chili mix, 1 tablespoon of chili powder, 2 teaspoons of onion powder, 1 cube of dried beef broth, 1 cube of dried chicken broth, 1/4 teaspoon of chili flakes, and a pinch of salt.

11

Slice up spicy sausage and add it to the pot instead of spicy sausage stuffing.

12

Return the meatballs to the pot and bring it to a medium boil for 45 minutes.

13

Turn off the burners and let the chili rest for an hour.

14

Remove the sausages from the chili and set aside as a snack.
