1

Combine 1 cup of white long grain rice and 1/2 cup of slivered blanched almonds in a large non-reactive jar.

2

Peel the zest off of 1 whole lime, avoiding the white pith, and add it to the jar.

3

Break 2 cinnamon sticks into smaller pieces and add them to the jar.

4

Add 4 milliliters of vanilla essence to the jar.

5

Add 1 cup of granulated white sugar to the jar.

6

Pour warm water into the jar, enough to cover the ingredients, and stir to help dissolve the sugar and mix the ingredients together.

7

Top off the jar with more water until full.

8

Seal the jar and place it in the refrigerator for 2 days, stirring a couple of times a day.

9

After 2 days, taste and adjust the sweetness if necessary by adding more sugar or cold water as desired.
