2 tablespoons BBQ sauce
1 tablespoon soy sauce
1 tablespoon molasses
1 package of tempeh
¼ olive oil
½ onion, diced
2 teaspoons spice rub
½ teaspoon chili flakes
1 teaspoon sea salt
1 cup cooked brown rice
1 medium beet, cooked and chopped
2 tablespoons wheat germ or oat bran
sesame seed buns
lettuce
tomato
avocado

Combine hoisin sauce, BBQ sauce, soy sauce and molasses in a bowl and set aside.

In a medium skillet, heat olive oil.

Crumble tempeh into skillet along with diced onions.

Add spice rub, chili flakes and sea salt.

Cook for 3-5 minutes, breaking up the tempeh pieces as you go.

Set aside and let cool.

Combine tempeh mixture with remaining ingredients in a food processor.

Add in 2 tablespoons of the Hoisin/BBQ sauce.

Pulse until blended and patties can be formed.

Using damp hands, form mixture into 4-6 patties.

Grill burgers on a grill or in a saute pan for 3 minutes per side, basting with remaining Hoisin-BBQ sauce as you go.

Serve on a sesame seed bun with lettuce, tomato and avocado.
