Prepare cupcakes and frosting in advance so they are not too hot.

Cut a hole in the middle of the cupcake to create a space for filling.

Lift off the top of the cupcake lid and set it aside (do not eat).

Remove extra crumbs from the inside of the cupcake without cutting all the way down.

Cut off the bottom part of the cupcake lid to create room for the filling.

Fill the center of the cupcake with M&M's or other treats.

Replace the cupcake lid on top to hide the filling.

Decorate the cupcake with frosting, applying gentle pressure while decorating.
