1

If you can't find thin beef steaks, ask the meat guy to slice them for you.

2

Spread Grey Poupon mustard on the beef steaks.

3

Sprinkle a little salt and a couple dashes of black pepper over the mustard.

4

Lay slices of bacon on top of the mustard.

5

Add a thin layer of finely chopped onions on top of the bacon.

6

Sprinkle finely chopped parsley over the onions.

7

Roll the beef tightly and secure with toothpicks.

8

Heat a pan and add a little olive oil and butter until hot.

9

Brown the rouladen seam side down in the hot pan.

10

Remove the rouladen and set aside on a plate.

11

Add about a cup of onions to the same pan.

12

Add about two cups of mushrooms to the pan and sauté until brown and soft, allowing them to release liquid.

13

Add a couple tablespoons of flour to the pan and mix it in.

14

Pour in about two cups of beef stock and bring to a boil.

15

Add a teaspoon of salt and a teaspoon of black pepper, adjusting later if needed.

Let the sauce simmer until it thickens.

17

Add half a cup of red wine and bring to a boil again.

18

Reduce heat and add the rouladen back to the pan.

19

Cover the pan and simmer for approximately 90 minutes.

20

Taste the sauce and adjust seasoning if necessary.
