Add 2 cups of medium grain white rice to a rice strainer.

Rinse the rice under cold water until the water runs clear to remove excess starch.

Add 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil and 0.5 tablespoons of salt to the rice.

Pour in 2.75 cups of water and set the heat to a little over high to bring to a boil.

Once boiling, add the rice and stir.

Wait a couple of minutes with the lid off until the water comes back to a simmer.

Reduce heat to medium and cover the pot.

After about 8 minutes, stir the rice to prevent sticking and check for doneness.

Cover the pot and set the temperature to very low, cooking for an additional 10 minutes until done.
