In a four quart saucepan, combine 4 medium all-purpose unpeeled potatoes and enough water to cover.

Boil the potatoes over high heat.

Reduce the heat, cover, and simmer until they're tender, about 15 to 20 minutes.

Drain the potatoes.

Leave the potato skins on if you like.

When the potatoes are cool enough to handle, cut them into quarter-inch thick slices.

In a 12-inch skillet, melt 4 tablespoons of butter or margarine over medium heat.

Add the sliced potatoes and 1 small chopped onion to the skillet.
