This sweet, enriched bread symbolizes new life and is often enjoyed with family during festive gatherings. Today, variations of this bread can be found in many Eastern European countries, each with unique twists, but the essence of celebration remains.

Activate the fresh yeast in warm milk with a bit of sugar until frothy.
Mix flour, baking powder, and salt in a large bowl.
Add the activated yeast mixture, egg yolks, whole eggs, melted butter, sour cream, vanilla sugar, rum, lemon zest, and orange zest to the flour mixture.
Knead the dough until smooth, about 10 minutes.
Let the dough rise in a warm place until doubled in size, about 1-2 hours.
Shape the dough into a round loaf and place it in a greased baking pan.
Cover and let rise again until puffy, about 30-45 minutes.
Preheat the oven to 170°C (340°F).
Brush the top with a mixture of one egg and a bit of milk, then smear with butter.
Bake until golden brown, about 40 minutes.
