Today, variations abound, with ingredients like tuna or chicken added, but the classic version remains a favorite.

Boil water in a pot.
Add chicken breasts, onion, garlic, cilantro, and laurel leaves to the boiling water.
Cook for about 30 minutes.
Add salt and 1 teaspoon of chicken bouillon, stir to combine, and cook for an additional 40 minutes until the chicken is done.
Remove the chicken and strain the broth, keeping the broth in the pot.
Add elbow macaroni to the broth and a little bit of oil to prevent sticking.
Cook macaroni until al dente, about 10 to 12 minutes.
In another pot, add water and carrots, cover, and cook for 10 minutes.
Once the chicken has cooled, shred it into smaller pieces.
In a bowl, add the entire can of table cream, 4 tablespoons of mayonnaise, and 3 tablespoons of sour cream; whisk together until well incorporated.
Add 1 teaspoon of mustard, sprinkle in garlic powder, salt, and pepper; whisk again.
Add the cooked macaroni, shredded chicken, diced ham, cooked carrots, corn, and peas to the bowl; mix from the bottom to the top to avoid breaking the macaroni.
Taste and adjust seasoning with more salt, pepper, sour cream, or mayonnaise as needed.
If desired, add diced onion and give a quick stir to combine everything.
