Today, chocolate chip cookies are a staple in American households and have inspired countless variations and adaptations around the world.

In a large bowl, combine softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar. Mix until creamy.
Add 1 egg at room temperature and vanilla extract. Mix until fully incorporated.
Add dry ingredients: all-purpose flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Mix until the mixture is dry and crumbly.
Switch to a spatula to mix the dough. If it's difficult to mix, use your hands after washing them.
Chop up a bar of dark chocolate (using Kiter chocolate) and add it to the dough. Mix in with hands or a stand mixer if preferred.
Scoop dough onto a baking tray lined with parchment paper using a 2-tablespoon cookie scoop, leaving at least 2 inches of space between them.
Shape each cookie ball into a dome shape to help them stay fluffy while baking.
Add more chocolate chunks on top of each cookie (optional).
Bake in a preheated oven at 180°C for about 12 to 15 minutes.
Let the cookies cool completely before topping with flaky sea salt.
