Nutritional yeast adds a cheesy flavor with fewer calories.
Combine olive oil, balsamic vinegar, maple syrup, rosemary, garlic, salt, pepper, and optional dried lavender to make the marinade.
Cut whole heads of endive in half lengthwise and add to the marinade.
Set the endive aside to marinate for about 30 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Preheat the grill to medium hot.
Place the marinated endive cut side down on the grill and cook until nicely browned, about 3 to 5 minutes.
Turn the endive over and brush the cut sides with any remaining marinade.
Check for doneness with the tip of a paring knife; it should be crisp tender.
