Preheat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit (175 degrees Celsius). Grease and dust a 9x9 pan with flour.

In a large saucepan, melt 1/2 cup of butter. Remove from heat and stir in 1 cup sugar, eggs, and 1 tsp of vanilla. Beat in 1/3 cup of cocoa, 1/2 cup of flour, salt, and baking powder. Spread batter into prepared pan.

Bake for 20-25 minutes or until toothpick inserted comes out clean. Do not overcook.
