Add diced carrots and celery, cooking until slightly softened, about 3-4 minutes.
Mix in chopped tomatoes, cumin, coriander, turmeric, and black pepper; cook for 2 minutes.
Pour in vegetable broth and water, then bring to a boil.
Add rinsed lentils and reduce heat to low; simmer for 25-30 minutes until lentils are tender.
Blend the soup until smooth using an immersion blender or in batches in a regular blender.
Stir in lemon juice and adjust seasoning with salt to taste.
Serve hot, garnished with fresh cilantro.
