Today, they have gained popularity worldwide, with various fillings and adaptations reflecting local tastes.

Mix yeast, sugar, and warm water in a bowl; let sit until frothy, about 5-10 minutes.
Combine flour and salt in a large mixing bowl.
Add the yeast mixture, olive oil, and milk to the flour; mix until a dough forms.
Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
Place the dough in a greased bowl; cover and let rise in a warm place until doubled, about 1 hour.
Preheat the oven to 200°C (400°F).
Punch down the risen dough and divide it into equal pieces.
Roll each piece into a ball, then flatten slightly into a disc.
Place a small amount of feta cheese, parsley, and black pepper in the center of each disc.
Fold the edges over the filling and shape into a roll.
Place the rolls seam-side down on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
Brush the tops with beaten egg and sprinkle with sesame and poppy seeds.
Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes until golden brown.
Remove from the oven and brush with melted butter for a shiny finish.
Let cool slightly before serving.
