Mint sauce has its roots in British cuisine, traditionally served with lamb dishes, particularly during Easter. It symbolizes the arrival of spring and is often associated with festive meals. Today, it has found its way into various culinary traditions around the world, adapting to local tastes and ingredients, making it a versatile condiment.

Apple cider vinegar adds a fruity note while being more widely available.

Honey provides natural sweetness with a unique flavor.
Strip the leaves off the stalks of the common mint, discarding any larger or wilting leaves.
Chop the mint leaves finely. If knife skills are lacking, use kitchen scissors to chop the mint in a mug.
Add 1.5 tablespoons of white sugar to the chopped mint to help with chopping.
Continue chopping the mint and sugar together until finely chopped.
Transfer the chopped mint and sugar to a bowl.
Add 3 tablespoons of just off the boil water to the bowl and pound the mixture with the end of a wooden spoon to extract flavor from the mint.
Add 2 tablespoons of white wine vinegar to the mixture for tang.
Stir the mixture well and let it stand for about an hour before using.
