1

Dissolve dry yeast in 1/4 cup of warm water; add 1 tablespoon of sugar and 1 tablespoon of flour; set aside until mixture has doubled in size, about 15 minutes.

2

Add the rest of the ingredients and knead the dough until soft and elastic, adding flour about 1/4 cup at a time as needed until the dough is tacky but does not stick to your hands.

3

Form the dough into a ball, cover with a cloth, and let rest for 1.5 hours in a warm spot or until doubled in size.

4

Divide the dough into 8 to 10 pieces and roll each into a ball.

5

Arrange them on a large greased baking sheet; set aside in a warm spot uncovered to let rise until doubled in size again, about 45 minutes.

6

Bake in a preheated 350°F oven for 45 minutes or until the tops are deep golden brown.

7

Remove from the sheet immediately and let cool.
