Burger Buns

3 tablespoons warm milk (105f-120f)
1 cup warm water (105f-120f)
2 1/4 teaspoons yeast
2 1/2 tablespoons sugar
1 egg (room temperature, beaten)
3 1/3 cups flour
1 1/2 teaspoons salt
3 tablespoons butter (room temperature)
1 egg (beaten, for topping)
Sesame seeds (for topping)

Place milk, water, yeast, sugar, and egg in a stand mixer. Mix it in with a whisk until smooth. Allow the mixture to rise for 15 minutes.

Add the flour and salt. Mix it all in with a dough hook.

Add the butter and then knead the dough on high speed for 10-12 minutes until smooth and slightly tacky.

Transfer the dough to a lightly oiled bowl. Cover and allow it to rise in a warm place for 1.5-2 hours until doubled in size.

Line 2 baking sheets with parchment paper.

Divide the dough into 8 equal parts. Roll them into balls and place the dough balls onto the parchment lined sheets, 2-3 inches apart.

Cover and allow the buns to rise for another 1.5-2 hours.

Preheat the oven to 200°C.

Brush the top of the buns with beaten egg and sprinkle over the sesame seeds.

Bake the buns for 15 minutes, rotating the pans halfway through baking to ensure even baking.

Remove the buns from the oven and cool them before cutting and serving.
