Soak split peas in water for at least 2 hours.
Drain and rinse the split peas before cooking.
Combine split peas and fresh water in a large pot over medium heat.
Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer until peas are tender, about 30 minutes.
In a separate pan, sauté onion, garlic, and ginger until fragrant, about 3-4 minutes.
Add turmeric, cumin, and coriander to the sautéed mixture and cook for another 2 minutes.
Stir the sautéed mixture into the pot with split peas.
Add diced carrots and potatoes, cooking until tender, about 10-15 minutes.
In a bowl, mix dumpling ingredients until a dough forms.
Drop spoonfuls of the dumpling dough into the simmering soup.
Cover and cook until dumplings are fluffy and cooked through, about 10 minutes.
Stir in coconut milk and lime juice, cooking for an additional 5 minutes.
Garnish with chopped cilantro and green onions before serving.
