Today, they have gained popularity beyond Cambodia, with variations found in neighboring countries, showcasing the region's rich culinary heritage.

Combine 4.5 cups of all-purpose flour, 1 cup of sugar, 1 teaspoon of salt, 1 teaspoon of yeast, and 2 teaspoons of baking powder in a bowl.
Add 1.5 cups of water to the dry ingredients and mix for about 5 minutes until the dough is formed.
Cover the dough and let it rest for about 1 hour.
After 1 hour, knead the dough for 1-2 minutes and then cut it into small pieces.
Roll each piece into a ring shape and dip in sesame seeds.
Let the shaped donuts rest for another 15 minutes.
Heat 3 cups of vegetable oil in a frying pan over medium-high heat for about 5 minutes.
Fry the donuts in the hot oil until both sides are golden brown.
