Sourdough starter can be made at home, saving on store-bought yeast.
Add 1 tablespoon of yeast to a bowl.
Pour in 2 cups of warm water, ensuring it's not too hot or too cold.
Add 1/4 cup of honey to the mixture and spray the measuring cup for easier pouring.
Whisk the mixture and let it sit for about 10 minutes until it becomes foamy.
Add 2 tablespoons of avocado oil and 2 teaspoons of Himalayan salt to the mixture.
Gradually add 4 1/2 cups of flour, adjusting as necessary if the dough is sticky.
Use a bread hook to mix until the dough forms a ball and pulls away from the sides of the bowl.
Cover the bowl with a towel and let the dough rise until doubled in size, about 45 minutes.
Divide the dough in half and shape each half into a rectangle, tucking and rolling it before placing it in greased bread pans.
Cover the shaped loaves and let them rise again for about 40 minutes.
Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
Bake the bread for 30-35 minutes until golden brown and it sounds hollow when tapped.
Remove from the oven and brush with melted butter.
