Cornstarch can thicken gravy without gluten.
Cut 3 large russet potatoes into large cubes.
Place potatoes in a pot and cover with 2 liters of water.
Add 1 teaspoon of salt and bring to a boil.
Boil potatoes for about 10 minutes until fork tender.
Drain the potatoes immediately after boiling to prevent water absorption.
Chop 1 stick (8 tablespoons) of salted butter and add to the drained potatoes.
Add 1.5 tablespoons of garlic salt and 2 teaspoons of sugar to the potatoes.
Mash the potatoes while hot until smooth and fluffy.
Add 6 to 8 oz of evaporated milk to the mashed potatoes and mix until creamy.
In a separate pan, combine 1/2 cup flour and 2 tablespoons flour with 1/4 cup oil over heat.
Add 1/2 tablespoon garlic salt, 1/2 tablespoon pepper, and 1/2 teaspoon ground sage to the flour mixture.
Gradually add 1 liter of hot water to the mixture while whisking until smooth.
Stir in 2 tablespoons of beef base and continue to whisk until gravy thickens.
