Zucchini can offer a similar texture when fried, while potatoes are more commonly available.
Peel the green plantains carefully to avoid breaking them.
Slice the plantains into small pieces.
Heat vegetable oil in a pot on the stove.
Once the oil is hot, add the sliced plantains to the oil.
Fry the plantains on one side for about 3 minutes until golden brown.
Flip the plantains over and fry for another 3 minutes on the other side.
Remove the fried plantains from the oil and place them on a napkin to drain excess oil.
Use a wooden plantain crusher to crush or press the fried plantains.
Place the crushed plantains back in the frying pan for another 3 minutes or until golden brown.
Flip the crushed plantains over and fry for another 3 minutes on the other side.
Remove the second batch of fried plantains from the oil and place them on a napkin to drain excess oil.
Show the final product of the fried green plantains.
