Today, variations abound worldwide, with many regions adding their unique twists, making it a versatile dish enjoyed by many.

Nutritional yeast is dairy-free and lower in calories, while Pecorino offers a similar flavor.
Remove the casing from the Italian sausage and break it up with a utensil.
Set the heat to medium-high, closer to high.
Cook 1.5 pounds of ground beef until browned.
Add 1 teaspoon of salt, 1 tablespoon of black pepper, and 1 tablespoon of Italian seasoning; mix well.
Add diced onion and minced garlic; cook until the onions are translucent.
Drain the meat (optional) and return it to the heat.
Add 2 jars of PGO tomato sauce and let it simmer on low heat for 1 hour.
After simmering, add chopped parsley and basil to the sauce and mix.
Heat water on high heat, add salt and oil, and bring to a boil before adding lasagna noodles.
Cook the noodles for 8 minutes, then remove them from the pot and either place them in cold water or let them air dry.
In a bowl, combine ricotta cheese, 1 egg, salt, black pepper, and Parmesan cheese; add parsley and basil, then stir and set aside.
To assemble the lasagna, spread meat sauce on the bottom of a casserole dish.
Layer noodles on top of the meat sauce.
Add more meat sauce, then mozzarella cheese, followed by parsley and basil.
Repeat the layering process with more noodles, sauce, and ricotta cheese, being careful not to overdo the ricotta.
Top with Kobe Jack cheese if desired.
Cover with foil and bake at 400°F for 45 minutes, with the last 5 minutes on broil.
