While traditionally made with currants, variations abound, showcasing local fruits and flavors, making them a beloved snack across Jamaica and beyond.

Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
Roll out the store-bought puff pastry on a well-floured surface to form a rectangle.
Brush the rolled pastry with melted butter.
Sprinkle 1.5 cups of currants evenly over the pastry.
Mix together 3 tablespoons of light brown sugar with 0.5 teaspoon of ground cinnamon and sprinkle over the currants.
Roll the pastry tightly, tucking it down as you go to keep it tight.
Cut the rolled pastry to fit your baking tray, pinching the ends to seal.
Place the rolled pastry seam-side down on a baking tray lined with parchment paper.
Prepare an egg wash by mixing 1 egg with 1 tablespoon of milk and brush it over the rolled pastry.
Make a few small slits on top of the pastry to allow steam to escape.
Bake in the preheated oven for about 25 minutes.
After 25 minutes, brush the rolls with more melted butter and return to the oven for an additional 2-3 minutes.
Allow the rolls to cool before slicing them into about 1.5 cm pieces.
