Show the cassava bought from a local Caribbean shop.
Mention the ingredients including coconut milk, sugar, all-purpose seasoning, and black pepper.
Add a small amount of jerk seasoning to the coconut milk and mix it in for flavor.
Add scallion and fresh thyme to the coconut milk for additional flavor.
Soak the cassava in the coconut milk mixture for at least 5 minutes to soften it.
Remove the cassava from the coconut milk and place it on a paper towel to absorb excess liquid.
Cut the cassava into preferred sizes.
Heat a pot and add at least 1/4 cup of olive oil (or vegetable oil).
Check the oil temperature with a small piece of cassava before frying to ensure it's not too hot.
Add the cassava to the pot and fry for 3-4 minutes on each side until golden brown.
Avoid overcrowding the pot while frying.
Turn the cassava to ensure even cooking and remove it when golden brown.
Place the fried cassava on a paper towel to remove excess oil.
Plate the finished bummy and describe it as crispy and cooked to perfection.
