Start by toasting the spice mixture for 2-3 minutes on medium heat.

Add 1 tablespoon of black pepper corns, 1 tablespoon of cumin seeds, 4 pods of cardamom seeds, 1 teaspoon of whole cloves, and 1 cinnamon stick to the pan.

Grind the toasted spices in a coffee grinder after cooling them down.

Prepare the ingredients: thinly slice 5 cloves of garlic, dice 2 large onions, and have 1 tablespoon of minced ginger ready.

Use 2 cups of basmati rice and rinse it before cooking.
