1 kilogram basmati rice

Cut the whole chicken into pieces, separating the legs and breast.

Clean the chicken pieces thoroughly.

Chop 2 medium-sized onions finely.

Make a paste from 4 tomatoes.

In a pot, heat some oil and add the chopped onions to fry until golden.

Add the spices: black pepper, cumin, coriander, turmeric, garam masala, cinnamon, dried lemon, cardamom, and cloves to the onions.

Add 1 tablespoon of ginger-garlic paste and sauté for a minute.

Add the chicken pieces to the pot and cook for about 15 minutes until they are well coated with the spices.

Add the tomato paste to the pot and mix well.

Pour in enough water to cover the chicken and let it boil.

After boiling, add 1 kilogram of soaked basmati rice to the pot.

Cover the pot and let it cook until the water is absorbed and the rice is tender, about 20-25 minutes.

Once cooked, let it rest for a few minutes before serving, optionally garnishing with raisins.
