Beat 1 cup of oil and 1 cup of sugar in a mixer until blended.
Add 4 eggs one at a time, mixing until fully incorporated.
Add vanilla extract to the egg mixture.
Slowly add 5 cups of flour and baking powder to the mixer, mixing until smooth.
Add slivered almonds and mix until incorporated.
Divide the dough into four equal sections and roll them into logs.
Place the logs on a baking sheet lined with a Silpat.
Bake at 350°F for about 30 minutes until golden brown.
Remove from the oven and let cool slightly before slicing.
Slice the logs diagonally into pieces.
Return the slices to the baking sheet and bake for an additional 20-30 minutes until crisp.
