BRAISED SEA CUCUMBER WITH ROAST PORK (烧肉红烧海参) - the simplest braised sea cucumber recipe

Soak the sea cucumbers in water overnight to rehydrate them, then rinse and drain.

In a large pot, heat the vegetable oil over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and sliced ginger, sautéing until fragrant.

Add the sliced roast pork to the pot and stir-fry for about 2-3 minutes until heated through.

Pour in the chicken broth, soy sauce, oyster sauce, sugar, and black pepper. Stir to combine.

Add the rehydrated sea cucumbers to the pot, ensuring they are submerged in the liquid.

Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce the heat to low and cover the pot. Let it simmer for about 30-40 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld.

Check the sea cucumbers for tenderness; they should be soft but not mushy. If needed, simmer longer.

Once done, remove from heat and let it sit for a few minutes before serving.

Garnish with chopped green onions before serving.

Serve hot with steamed rice.
