Ingredients

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 cup finely chopped mixed vegetables (carrots, cabbage, mushrooms)
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tsp sesame oil
  • 1/2 tsp ginger, grated
  • 1/2 tsp garlic, minced
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch (for dusting)

Instructions

  1. 1In a mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour and salt. Gradually add water and knead until a smooth dough forms. Cover with a damp cloth and let it rest for 30 minutes.
  2. 2In a separate bowl, mix the chopped vegetables, soy sauce, sesame oil, ginger, garlic, and black pepper. Set aside.
  3. 3After the dough has rested, divide it into small balls (about the size of a golf ball). Roll each ball into a thin circle on a floured surface, dusting with cornstarch to prevent sticking.
  4. 4Place a spoonful of the vegetable mixture in the center of each circle.
  5. 5Fold the dough over the filling to create a half-moon shape and pinch the edges to seal. You can also pleat the edges for a decorative touch.
  6. 6Prepare a steamer by bringing water to a boil. Place the dim sum in the steamer basket, making sure they are not touching each other.
  7. 7Steam the dim sum for about 10-12 minutes, or until the dough is translucent and cooked through.
  8. 8Remove from the steamer and serve hot with soy sauce or your favorite dipping sauce.
