Slice half a block of haloumi cheese into pieces about an inch thick, then cut each slice into thirds to create thick potato chip-like pieces.
In a bowl, combine 1 cup of plain flour, 1 teaspoon of sweet paprika, 1 teaspoon of salt, 0.5 teaspoon of black pepper, 1 teaspoon of ground chili, and 1 tablespoon of dry oregano. Mix well.
Preheat the deep fryer to 180 degrees Celsius.
Individually toss each piece of haloumi in the flour mixture until well-coated. Set aside on a tray or plate.
Carefully add the coated haloumi pieces to the deep fryer basket, ensuring not to overcrowd them. If necessary, fry in two batches.
Once all haloumi is in the fryer, shake the basket gently after about 10 seconds to prevent sticking.
Cook the haloumi fries for about 2 minutes until they are golden brown.
Remove the basket from the fryer and let the fries drain for 5-10 seconds.
Transfer the fries to a bowl lined with baking paper or paper towel to absorb excess grease. Sprinkle with a pinch of salt.
Serve the haloumi fries with fry sauce on the side.
