Whole Wheat Bread

Whole wheat bread has been a staple in many cultures for centuries, valued for its nutritional benefits compared to white bread. It is made from whole grain flour, which retains the bran and germ, providing more fiber and nutrients. This bread is often associated with healthier eating habits and is commonly consumed in various forms around the world, from sandwiches to toast.

Spelt flour is more nutritious, while all-purpose flour is often less expensive.

In a bowl, add 1 1/2 cups of whole wheat flour.
Add instant yeast, sugar, and salt, keeping the salt away from the yeast at this stage.
Mix the dry ingredients together.
Add warm milk and warm water to the mixture.
Mix with a wooden spoon until a dough forms; it will be very sticky.
Sprinkle some flour on the counter and knead the dough for about 10 to 12 minutes until elastic.
Add 1 tablespoon of softened butter and knead for another 5 to 6 minutes.
Grease a bowl with sunflower oil and place the dough inside, covering it with a clean kitchen towel.
Create a humid and warm environment for proofing by adding some water splashes on top or placing it in the oven at the lowest temperature for 1 to 1.5 hours until doubled in size.
Punch down the dough and transfer it back to the counter to shape the bread.
Shape the dough and pinch it well after each fold to fit into the loaf pan.
Place the shaped dough into a 7x4 inch loaf pan and cover with a kitchen cloth to proof for another 30 minutes.
Brush the top with a little milk for a beautiful brown color.
Bake in the preheated oven at 190°C (375°F) for 25 to 30 minutes.
